Must do when you travel to Weston: Fishing the Missouri River

“The dragonfly symbolizes wisdom, change, transformation, light and adaptability in life. It shows up in people's lives to remind them that they need to bring a lightness and joy to their life.”

When you visit our shop in Weston MO you’ll fall in love with our little home town and the Main Street lined with shops, restaurants, pubs and wineries. But also make time for the beautiful Weston Bend State Park and the vast amount of nature you’ll encounter there. The park has a great campground with spacious lots plus lots of trails for hiking, biking, and fishing on the Missouri River. You can access the park through its main entrance on 45 Highway, or right off of Main Street when you use the Weston Bluffs Trail.

You can rent bikes from our friends at Bike Around the Bend (which is directly behind our shop on Main Street) to hit the trail, or make the 1.5 mile trek to the state park entrance where you can also access the Missouri River. The boys and I go fish the river a couple of times a week and anyone in the shop can give you exact directions (over the tracks and down the trail). Just text us at 816-878-2278. We have caught some crazy things down there including cat fish, carp, garr and even a sturgeon.

There are often teenagers on the banks of the river just like the good old days - spending their summer days in the sunshine. The trail has a fair amount of traffic from sunrise to dusk so it’s not isolated.  The woods are dense when you are hiking and the trails are moderate.  Bring your bug spray, a picnic,  and some good shoes to enjoy a day at the park.
